Collection: Shiho Hayashi

Japanese ceramicist Shiho Hayashi works with clay to create minimal, yet functional objects. Shiho graduated Kyoto Art University in 2008, specialising in lacquered arts and crafts. Following this, she moved to Tajimi, where she currently resides, to complete a degree in ceramics and porcelain.

Her works are popular and recognised by many great galleries, often she even shows off-shore such as United States and Eastern Asia.

Shiho has a vast depth of knowledge around different techniques and methods which is reflected in her contemporary ceramics that often experiment freely with elegant form and tactile texture. Her most recent collection uses a lot of black, hoping that people will see the beautiful hidden landscapes that arise within the vases as a result of the firing processes she uses.  Each piece is truly unique and a one off.
