Brooke Georgia - Aught

AUGHT
Brooke Georgia’s second show at Public Record, Aught, looks at the presence of absence and the potential within nothing.
Following the thread of both her art practice and garments under her label ‘being’, she works with the inherent poetics of collected materials, undoing and reworking their stories anew.
Found traces of being here - metal, hair, skin are pressed onto paper. Cement and ash are poured into clothing remnants, into the space a body should or could be. A fabric containment of light and space pushes us to the edge of the room.
Aught is a word that can mean anything and nothing, zero or something. Loss and/or potentiality abide in this floating pocket of air, and we exist differently in the space that remains. ‘Nothing’ is full of possibility. Tears on paper were/are a salted path, that knows aught of the future.
