Collection: Iza Lozano

Iza Lozano (b.1991) is a Mexican artist in Tāmaki Makaurau. 

Propelled by observing archaeology, performance, and ritual settings, Iza's work primarily consists of vessels, plinths, sculptural jewelry, and various objects made out of clay, paper, and stones that she crafts in order to materialise oneiric landscapes, translating subconscious imagery into textured forms, marks, and expressive volumes. 

Iza studied ceramics at the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, where she lived and developed her practice until 2020, when she moved to Aotearoa. Since then, she has completed artist-in-residence programs at Auckland Studio Potters and Driving Creek Pottery. 

Her work has been exhibited in Mexico, Spain, and Aotearoa. Her second solo show at Public Record has been planned in August this year.
