Jewellery Lesson: Carving Meaning
Wax to metal with Lucinda Barrett
Sunday, 12th July 2026, 1-3:30pm
Lucinda Barrett’s jewellery class:
For those interested in art history and symbolism in design, Lucinda will guide you through creating your own amulet for you or your loved one. This course explores how to develop a personal visual language within your work, while introducing foundational carving techniques and craftsmanship.
Through carving and making, you will explore how meaning can be embedded into objects, creating jewellery that carries symbolism, memory, and personal significance.
What you will make
-
Wax carving for your pendant, charm (A completed wax model ready for casting.)
The aim is for everyone to complete a meaningful piece within our time of 150 mins focusing on creativity and individuality.
At the heart of the session is a simple question: what makes a piece of jewellery truly special to us? What gives a charm its meaning?
The idea is that when we create something with intention, we give it meaning. It becomes more than an object, it carries a story, a memory, or a feeling that is uniquely our own.
The workshop runs for 2 and half hours, including a tea break.
