Magnolia Pod and Stones  - casting aluminium from the found object 

2022 The Moon and the Pavement, Commissioned by The Physics Room curated in partnership with Ashburton Gallery, curated by Abby Cunnane

-agates, pebbles and stones collected from Hakatereand Wakanui; aluminium cast agates; aluminium and pewter cast acorns, magnolia and conifer cones from Ashburton Domain.

Kaihori explores the materiel nature of paintings and objects as a means to consider the ontology of things and spaces, responding to it as an interior space for the audience’s experiences. The surface tension of the paintings attempts to bring the viewer’s attention to the surface of the work.
